Living and learning...

So here is a big learning experience that I never really thought of and really should have listened to the advice...

Looking up the breed of the dog before you adopt it ESPECIALLY an older dog.

This past summer I got Sami. Her family was in a tough situation after having a special baby. They couldn't give her the extra attention. Made sense new baby with disabilities would be hard for any family.

So I took her in. She was a year and half. Fully potty trained, utd on all shots and fixed and also pure bred...oh best part she is cute.

So thinking I was helping out this family and the dog I took her in. She was good at first. I let her outside on a leash in the summer and she was good. But before I moved up the ft. lewis with the yard apartment wise she was HORRIBLE. No matter how much I took her out on the leash she would come back in and do it on the carpet. Walk walk walk and nothing...all she would do is sniff, walk walk walk. Come back in accident on the floor. And if she did do it outside I would praise her treat her...and even then she would go back in and do something else in the house.

So during the summer when I moved back here she did better. I took her out and put her on the run for hours...bring her in feed her relax and around dinner time outside she went...occasionally right before bedtime I would be busy putting babies to sleep and she would have an accident.

Now with the twins being a lot more active and crazy she has gotten worse. Especially with the fact that I am busy. She is a terror! Tears up stuffed animals digs in the garbage accidents in the house...damn she is driving me crazy.

So I did what any other adult would do and googled it :) Well If I would have done this first(like a responsible person) I would have figured her breed is NOT a breed that fits with our family. OOOOPPPSSS....

A lot of the issues I have been having has to do with her breed and can be avoided with firm training as a puppy. Well I didnt have her as a puppy...and now trying to figure out a way to stop the bad behavior is going to be a challenge..

SOO

Learn from my fail: Research your breed..figure out the breed that fits you the best because the cuteness wont over look the personality and bad behavior...
